Music Ministry

Cantors

The cantors lead congregational singing at Masses and other liturgical celebrations. Cantors must be members of one of the established singing groups in the parish (Choir, Gathering, Resurrection Choir).

Choir

A well-prepared choir adds beauty and solemnity to the liturgy and assists the singing of the congregation. Membership is open to all adult parishioners. The only qualifications are the ability to carry a tune and a willingness to attend scheduled rehearsals and liturgies.

Children's and Junior Choirs

Youth choirs give parish children the opportunity of participating more fully in weekend and special liturgies along with the adults of the congregation. They also provide another type of musical style which is used at various appropriate liturgies.

The Children's Choir is made up of children in grades one through three; the Junior Choir is comprised of students from grades four through eight. Members are not required to be registered in Christ the King Grade School.

Resurrection Choir

The Resurrection Choir provides joyful, prayerful music at parish funerals. Through this ministry, the members help promote the spirit of happiness and celebration which should be expressed in a Mass of Resurrection. At the same time, they represent the Christ the King community reaching out and showing concern to persons who are grieving over the death of a loved one. Membership is open to all parish members whether or not they are "musical." The only requirement is a willingness to attend parish funerals when the member's personal schedule permits.

The Teen Gathering

The Gathering is comprised of singers and instrumentalists who provide a contemporary style of music for liturgical celebrations, mainly the Sunday Noon Mass. Instruments most frequently used are guitar, flute, and keyboard. The group is open to all parishioners, both adult and teens, with musical interests.
