Parish Life        Back to Ministries  Parish Home

This commission is responsible for promoting family life within the parish community.

The commissioner is elected by the commission’s ministries for a three-year term on the parish council.

Moms Group

The Moms Group has a membership of moms of all ages. The goal of the group is to foster a supportive Christian community among the moms as they experience spiritual growth, friendship, and fellowship. The group meets monthly in the morning for coffee and a brief program. Various speakers address the group on spirituality, prayer, parenting, Catholic traditions, scripture, and more. Babysitting is provided for moms with small children. This group provides a great avenue for meeting other mothers in the parish. The Moms Group also provides meals for parish families with new babies, adoptions or difficult pregnancies.

Parish Summer Social

The Christ the King Summer Social is a family event featuring food, games and entertainment. The Social promotes togetherness as the one event each year with the potential of drawing the entire parish together at one time.

An appointed chairperson and executive committee coordinate the Social. Parishioners participate as workers. The commitment of these volunteers is vital to the Social’s success.

Parish Mardi Gras

The Christ the King Mardi Gras is an adult event held approximately every other year.  It will be held on February 2, 2008.  The event features dinner, games, a Silent Auction and a Live Auction.  It has been held at other times, but the theme of the event is the Mardi Gras and it is usually held on the weekend prior to the beginning of Lent.  Teams of volunteers do the planning, decorating, and the soliciting, organizing and displaying of the items for the Silent Auction.

Father/Son Group

Our mission is to provide opportunities for Christ the King fathers and their sons to enjoy each others’ company as a Catholic community at various events.  Butler basketball games, Pole Day at the track, and Indians games are examples of events we have attended as a community in the past.  Our goal is to teach our sons how to socialize as good Catholic men.  In the future, we hope to expand our activities from purely social ones to service opportunities, as well.
