Sacraments
| Baptism Baptism: Call the Parish Office to schedule a time. Participation in a baptismal preparation class is required for new parents prior to scheduling a baptism time. Please call the parish office to schedule a class. The Baptism Preparation Committee educates parents of young children about the sacrament before these children are baptized. The committee also serves as a resource for any information about baptism. The committee is, for many people "returning" to the Church, the first face-to-face contact with someone in the parish. To this extent, the committee also performs a public relations/hospitality function.

Eucharist Preparation classes for First Holy Communion are provided for children attending Christ the King School, or for those in public schools. The latter receive instruction through the Sunday Religious Education Program. The program is based on the standards set by the Archdiocese. The program is supervised by the Director of Religious Education. Volunteer catechists conduct the classes. These volunteers are required to participate in a certification process defined by the archdiocese.

Confirmation The Confirmation Program provides an opportunity for sophomores, juniors and seniors in high school to receive the sacrament of confirmation according to Archdiocese of Indianapolis guidelines. The program helps the confirmation candidate reaffirm the Catholic faith which he or she received at baptism. The Confirmation Program starts in September and ends in the Spring with the Confirmation ceremony. The program is led by the Youth Minister and a Core Team.

Marriage Marriages: The sacrament of marriage is scheduled by arrangement with couple 6 months prior to proposed date. Participation in Marriage Preparation Program is required as is consultation with the wedding coordinator. Please consult a parish priest.
This program helps parish couples who are engaged to be married to prepare for the marriage, not just for the wedding. It helps them become aware of what it means to live out their vocation, their calling from God to be a sacramental couple. Engaged couples preparing for marriage at Christ the King are required to participate in the program. (Alternative programs may be considered in special circumstances.) The program is coordinated by the Director of Religious Education. Appointed volunteer married couples participate as presenters or hosts. Marriage Preparation - FOCCUS InventoryEach engaged couple is required to take the FOCCUS Inventory questionnaire. It is administered by a married couple who have been trained in this process. The purpose of the Inventory Questionnaire is to help couples learn more about themselves, their partner, and their relationship. FOCCUS Inventory is not a "test". |
