ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS
Students in grades 5 - 8 are eligible to receive Academic Achievement Awards at the end of each school year. Eligibility is determined by the students' placement on honor roll or high honors in at least 3 out of 4 grading periods.  Grading periods are 1st, 2nd, 3rd quarters and grades earned as of a date to be determined in the 4th quarter.  Students earning honor roll or high honors status in 3 of the 4 grading periods will be honored at a ceremony before the close of school.
Those students who have consistently earned honors or high honor status for four years in a row will receive special recognition at the end of their eighth grade year.

HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS
Information about scholarships is provided to parents of 8th graders by the 8th grade teachers. Students wishing to be considered for scholarships are asked to write a short essay (1/2 to 1 page) about why they should be considered for a scholarship and for which scholarship(s) they are interested.

SHADOWING

Our eighth grade students are afforded the opportunity to shadow at a local high school in order to allow them to make an informed decision about their choice for high school attendance.  CKS students may not shadow until 2nd quarter (Oct. 28th).  Contact individual high schools to set up an appointment.  When/if possible, students are encouraged to shadow on days when CKS is not in session.  The CKS teachers must sign off on the shadowing approval form for each student.  Shadowing forms are available from the homeroom teacher and are due in the office one week prior to the shadowing date.  Class work must be made up.  See p. 13 Parent/Student Handbook.

The significant dates for each school will be posted when they are made available to us.

Class Polo Shirt

If there is a desire to order these they would become an acceptable part of your son or daughter's school uniform.

A parent volunteer would be needed to initiate this process – thank you Mrs. Krause for volunteering!
